Sleet, ice, deep-freeze hit large swath of US

A powerful storm system that spread hazardous snow, sleet and freezing rain widely across the nation's midsection rumbled toward the densely populated Eastern seaboard on Sunday, promising more of the same.
Forecasters said the potent system already blamed for numerous power outages and thousands of weekend
flight cancellations elsewhere, has Virginia and other Mid-Atlantic states in its icy sights before the Northeast is up next.Icy conditions were expected to last through the rest of the weekend from Texas to Ohio to Tennessee. And officials warned a major ice storm was possible in Virginia's Appalachian region along the busy Interstate 81 corridor.In Virginia, state Emergency Management spokeswoman Laura Southard said the storm had the potential to be a "historic ice event.This forecast is very concerning to us," Southard said. "I've worked multiple disasters, but I've never worked an ice storm with a forecast like this. It's just really important for everybody to take extra precautions.Forecasters said the storm caused freezing rain and icy conditions in parts of Tennessee as it surged across that state late Saturday and early Sunday. It also has been blamed for plunging temperatures as a cold front sweeps down from the North on the jet stream.

Bob Nations Jr., director of the emergency operations command center for the Memphis area, said early Sunday that ice coating roads, bridges and overpasses caused several multi-vehicle crashes. He issued a statement urging drivers to use extreme caution, particularly on bridges and overpasses.
Police in Memphis, meanwhile, urged motorists to stay home altogether if they could avoid travel early Sunday.Ice had built up on the windshields and roofs of parked cars throughout Memphis during the day Saturday. Law enforcement reported an increase in traffic crashes, and scattered power outages affected more than 3,000 people, emergency and utility officials said.

A truck carrying extremely dangerous material used in medical treatment has been stolen in Mexico officials said.The truck was transporting cobalt-60 from a hospital in the northern city of Tijuana to a radioactive
waste storage facility when it was stolen in Tepojaco near Mexico City Monday, the International Atomic Energy Agency said in a statement. Cobalt-60 is a radioactive isotope and was being used in radiotherapy.
Mexican authorities are conducting a search for the material and have issued a statement to alert the public, the IAEA said.The truck is a white Volkswagen Worker with license plate 726-DT-8, Mexico's National Commission for Nuclear Security and Safeguards said.At the time the truck was stolen, the source was properly shielded. Are you happy with your butt? Most of us aren't. We think they're too small, too big, too saggy, and too flabby.  However, there are many women have gorgeous bodies...it's not a generic thing and of course has
nothing to do with magic. They just follow some exercises to have that gorgeous and fit body and butt. Follow these exercises and shift your rear into high gear.
Squats:
Squats are one of the best exercises you can do for your butts.

Steps:

1- Stand with feet hip-width apart and, for added intensity, hold weights at shoulder level or at your sides.

2- Bend the knees, and lower into a squat, keeping the knees behind the toes.  Imagine that you're sticking your butt out behind you, but keep the torso upright and contracted.

3- Press into the heels to stand up.

Lunges

Lunges are one of the most important exercises for your butt; especially it makes you move many muscles at the same time.

Steps:

You can also elevate the back foot on a step or platform to really challenge both legs. It is good for gluteus and thighs, but please avoids this move if it aggravates any knees problems.

Step Ups

Steps ups is a good exercise for your gluteus and to have the perfect butt.

Step ups are another great exercise for the gluteus.  For step ups, place one foot on a step or platform and push through the heel to lift the body up.

Hip Extensions:

This exercise is mainly targeting the largest muscle in the gluteus Maximus. So don't forget to do it daily.

Deadlift:

Deadlift is a great exercise for your butt and lower back

Steps:

To do this move, take the left leg back just a bit, lightly resting on the toe. With the weights in front of the thighs, tip from the hips and lower the weights as low as your flexibility allows.

Biking:

Riding a bike is useful for your heart plus it helps in moving most of your body muscles such as hips, thighs and butt. Stay away from your car; it’s time to ride a bike daily.

Running:

Running is useful for both mind and body. It helps to reduce stress as well as moving all your body muscles especially your butt. So go jogging for 1/2 an hour daily.

Part One: Toning Exercises

    Do hip lifts. Lay on your back with your hands at your sides and your knees bent at a 45 degree angle. Keeping your feet on the floor, lift your hips up in the air until they are aligned with your legs and torso. Hold for 10 seconds, and then bring your hips back down to the floor.

    For an advanced version, extend one leg into the air during each hip lift. Elevate your hips first, then extend your leg. Hold for ten seconds, then bring your leg back down to its original position before lowering your hips.

Do squats with dumbbells. Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart, holding a five-pound dumbbell in each hand. Squat down as if you were going to sit down on a chair, keeping your back straight. Hold the position for a few seconds, and then squeeze your glutes as you return to standing position.

Facebook chief unveils plans to improve global Internet access

MENLO PARK Calif. Aug.21 (UPI) -- Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg says his company will team up with six others to help bring Internet access to more than 4 billion people still without it.
Zuckerberg said the group called Internet.org, would attempt to aid emerging economies by increasing Web access The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.There are huge barriers in developing countries to connecting and joining the knowledge economy Zuckerberg said in a statement.Internet.org brings together a global partnership that will work to overcome these challenges including making Internet access available to those who cannot currently afford it.Facebook has already invested nearly $1 billion on infrastructure toward the goal of broader Internet access in the developing world, he said, and plans to spend more.
Only 2.7 billion people -- slightly more than one-third of the world's population -- currently have access to the Internet Zuckerberg said and adoption is growing by less than 9 percent annually.
The Internet.org consortium will work to expand connectivity in cooperation with mobile operators governments academics and other non-governmental organizations he said.I'm focused on this because I believe it is one of the greatest challenges of our generation Zuckerberg posted on his Facebook profile.

Scotland Yard looks at new speculation over Princess Diana’s death

British police are examining new information about Princess Diana’s death reportedly including allegations of military involvement. Lady Di died in a 1997 car crash in Paris.
Scotland Yard announced Saturday that detectives had begun checking the relevance and credibility of information about the death of Diana the ex-wife of Prince Charles and the mother of princes William and Harry.The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported that the allegations came from the estranged in-laws of a special forces soldier.According to the newspaper they told the military he had claimed to his wife that his special forces unit had arranged and covered up the detah of Diana.The Metropolitan Police Service is scoping information that has recently been received in relation to the deaths and assessing its relevance and credibility Scotland Yard announced in a statement.The assessment will be carried out by officers from the specialist crime and operations command.This is not a reinvestigation and does not come under Operation Paget the statement said.Operation Paget refers to the initial British investigation into claims of a conspiracy to murder Diana and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed allegations made by Mohamed Al-Fayed, the former owner of the Harrods department store and the father of the princess’s final lover.Led by John Stevens formerly Britain's top policeman the investigation found all allegations without foundation.
The Defense Ministry refused comment to news agencies over the allegations.With vigor As driver Henri Paul - later found to have had a blood-alcohol level three times above France's limit - tried to ditch a pack of paparazzi the car that Diana rode in smashed into a pillar in the Pont de l'Alma tunnel in Paris and spun around.Trevor Rees-Jones a member of the Al-Fayed family's protection team and the only person in the car wearing a seatbelt survived.Medical personnel pronounced Dodi Fayed 42 and Paul - the deputy head of security at Al-Fayed's plush Hotel Ritz in Paris - dead at the scene of the crash.Diana 36 died later in the hospital.A spokesman for Mohamed Al-Fayed characterized the tycoon as interested in seeing the outcome and urged police to investigate with vigor.Five years ago he had announced that he would abandon his 10-year campaign to prove the deaths a murder:I am leaving the rest for God to get my revenge.
Prince Charles married Diana in 1981 but their already shaky marriage fell apart soon after Harry's birth in 1984 with both sides admitting adultery.They separated in 1992 and divorced in 1996.
Last month William and has wife Catherine introduced England and the world to Diana’s first grandchild George born in the same London hospital where the princess herself had given birth to her two boys.
