ISLAMABAD: A five kilogram bomb was recovered from former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s route to court Tuesday morning, Geo News reported.
According to the Rangers sources, a five kilogram bomb and two pistols were found in a bag along the road near National Institute of Health.
The bomb disposal squad reached the site immediately and defused the bomb.
It is pertinent to mention that Pervez Musharraf was due to appear in a special court today for hearing and had to take the same route.
The special court, however, delayed the proceedings till 11am today after the news of threats to Musharraf’s life surfaced.
The special court was due to start proceedings against former Pervez Musharraf in the treason case today as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) single bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan on Monday dismissed his three writ petitions.
Musharraf, through three different petitions, had challenged his trial by a special court instead of a military court, the composition of the special court and the appointment of Akram Sheikh as prosecutor.
